You Can Make a Difference
Fundraising for the Future
Organizing and funding the Master Gardener Program and its activities is done in cooperation with Washington State University Extension. The Foundation has the job of raising funds that make all we do in the community possible.

Your support matters! Here’s how:
- The WSU Extension oversees programs in four Kitsap County Demonstration Gardens tended by Master Gardener volunteers. Your donation enables the Foundation to supply the gardens with seeds, plant starts, soil and tools essential for growing vegetables, fruits, flowers, and herbs.
- Each summer, fun and educational programs for kids and their families are held right in the Demonstration Gardens and run by Master Gardener volunteers. Your contributions to the Foundation supply equipment, such as microscopes, kid–friendly tools, and educational materials.
- WSU trains Master Gardeners in plant and pest identification, sustainable and water-wise garden practices, pruning, and many other topics. In turn, Master Gardeners volunteer at answer clinic booths throughout the growing season at Farmer’s Markets in Bainbridge, Bremerton, Port Orchard, and Poulsbo, where they field questions and provide resources. Funds you donate to the Foundation enable this outreach by providing resources such as hand-held and digital magnifiers, canopies, and reference books.
Outreach is at the heart of the Master Gardener program. WSU and our Foundation visit schools and participate at events in every corner of Kitsap County. Your donations help us as we spread knowledge to sustain healthy and resilient communities.

WSU recently updated and expanded its science-backed horticultural and environmental stewardship education that can lead to becoming a Master Gardener. It’s called the Washington Green School, and it has two tracks: the WSU Extension Master Gardener Program and Washington Gardener Certificate Program.

The program that started it all – community, researched-based education, and lots of soil. More than fifty years, and still growing strong!

Always wanted the horticultural education, but don’t have time to volunteer and teach right now?
