Master Gardener Foundation of Kitsap County
Who are Master Gardeners? We are gardeners who learn about cultivating plants and maintaining healthy ecosystems. We practice that knowledge to benefit everyone in Kitsap County.
We work in demonstration gardens and then donate the vegetables, fruit, herbs and flowers to local food banks.
Each summer, we organize fun programs where kids and families can get hands-on experience with seeds, soil and pollinators.
We field questions about pest and disease and can explain how to compost and identify invasive, native and ornamental plants.
In a virtuous loop between The Master Gardener Foundation of Kitsap County and Washington State University’s Master Gardener program, the Foundation raises funds for the programs and priorities that Washington State University (WSU) runs and supports.
Come spend time in our demonstration gardens, bring the kids to a fun and educational summer garden program, look us up at the Farmer’s markets in Bainbridge, Bremerton, Port Orchard, or Poulsbo! Here’s more about our programs. And don’t miss our biggest fundraiser of the year, the annual plant sale!!

Demonstration Gardens for Family Fun
Awesomeness reigns when kids get hands-on experience growing, harvesting, and exploring with Master Gardeners in three demonstration gardens each summer.

Fulfilling Our Mission
Are we obsessive gardeners? Well, of course, and the resulting produce – over two tons each summer – benefits local community food banks and kitchens.

Community Outreach
Gather your photos and samples and then ask a local Master Gardener about most anything related to horticulture. With WSU as support, we’re on it!

Mission Driven
Our Foundation is a non-profit corporation and a recognized public charity. We financially support the WSU Master Gardener Program in Kitsap County through extensive fundraising and sound financial management. Our funding helps support the training of master gardeners, information and diagnostic clinics, and demonstration gardens as well as a wide variety of community outreach programs.
Join Us!
WSU recently updated and expanded its science-backed horticultural and environmental stewardship education that can lead to becoming a Master Gardener. It’s called the Washington Green School, and it has two tracks: the WSU Extension Master Gardener Program and Washington Gardener Certificate Program.

The program that started it all – community, researched-based education, and lots of soil. More than fifty years, and still growing strong!

Always wanted the horticultural education, but don’t have time to volunteer and teach right now?
